About

Marc grew up a military brat and later joined the military himself completing 4 years of active duty in the Air Force.  After feeling the call to become a counselor Marc moved to Minnesota where he earned his master’s degree in counseling psychology at Bethel College, later earning his LPC licensure.  Marc started his internship at Pathways Psychological Services in 1997, was hired on as a therapist in 1998, and has been with Pathways ever since.  Marc likes working with adolescents above the age of 15, adults of all ages, couples and families.  Marc enjoys a wide variety of recreation and leisure pursuits such as motorcycle riding, mild rock climbing, visiting the ocean, exercising, watching and participating in a variety of sporting events, seeing movies, reading, and is proud to be able to say that he met his then to be wife while on a mutual skydiving adventure.

Philosophy

Marc believes in a thorough approach to therapy including exploring dynamics of each client’s family of origin and childhood to determine if there are repeating themes/patterns of unresolved pain, issues, or unmet needs that continue to play out and exert subconscious influence in our present tense interpersonal interactions.  Authentically resolving and healing from unresolved pain from our past sets us free to more adequately and effectively face, address and work to resolve sources of conflict present in our lives and interpersonal relationships today.  Marc believes the gracious but firm application of God’s truth heals and ultimately transforms our hurts and shame into lovingly converted strength, growth and enhanced learning, education and awareness that radiates as glorious witness and testimony to the awesome power of God’s grace, love and miraculous healing.  Marc believes that healing happens in relationships and that the therapist is only one member in ideally an overall team that the client turns to for synchronizing truth, counsel and direction in their pursuit of healing – e.g. pastoral counselor, spiritual advisor, medical doctor, support group, and appropriate accountability support system.  Finally, Marc believes the therapy setting serves as an ideal training/proving ground for the client to stretch, learn, grow in, and to develop and practice skills, concepts and principles that can practically transfer, translate and generalize to all other interpersonal aspects of their everyday, real lives.
