Shelby enjoys working with children (ages 3+), teens & adults on a variety of issues. She has specialized training in treating depression, anxiety, trauma disorders and complex grief. With a background in writing, music and art, she has worked with clients using the creative expressive arts to explore pain and past trauma, in addition to more classical therapy approaches.

I view working with clients in the therapeutic environment as an honor and a privilege. It takes courage and strength to share your life story and my passion is to provide a safe place to unpack life’s burdens and together we will work to find solutions to help you move forward again. Often our experiences in life can become an obstacle and we feel as if we are stuck, as if trying to walk through life in quicksand. My goal is to help you find solutions and positive tools to regain your momentum. My primary therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but I view the therapeutic process as a creative journey and I often incorporate other therapeutic approaches such as Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Family Systems Theory and Experiential Therapy. When working with children, I involve the parents in order to incorporate parental education as a means to help strengthen the child-parent attachment and promote positive family emotional growth and stability.
