Patti grew up in Colorado and attended college in Denver. After graduation, she was commissioned as a nurse in the United States Air Force. She worked in a small hospital on the Mexican border until marrying and moving to Anchorage, Alaska. In Alaska she was a school nurse while attending graduate school. After graduation, Patti moved back to Colorado where her husband taught at the Air Force Academy and she worked as a counselor in a community mental health clinic, working with children and teens. From Colorado, she moved to Houston, Texas where she lived for two long years before moving to Minnesota. She loves Minnesota (well, maybe not in January and February). In addition to working at Pathways, Patti works as a counselor at her church, doing short term crisis counseling and assessment. She and her husband teach marriage preparation classes at their church and are preparing for the rapidly approaching empty nest years.
Although Patti works with clients on a large variety of issues, her special interests are children and teens.

Philosophy:
My goal as a counselor is to understand the suffering and issues that the individual is experiencing and to work with them in discovering and working through the emotional and spiritual obstacles that are binding them from achieving a life of contentment and joy. Motivations drive our behavior and perceptions often drive our thoughts. I work with clients to discover what is at work in their distress and then encourage and help them find ways to make changes. My background as a nurse provides me with additional insight into the physical, developmental and biological dimensions of emotional and psychological distress. Life can get better but it usually doesn't happen on its own.
